2019 Michigan Road Race Series

The MBRA is announcing the details of the 2019 Michigan Road Race Series. We reached out to all race promoters to solicit their participation in the series. We have 5 exciting races, including 2 state championship races and a PRT event, who stepped up to create our series this year. Once again we will offer prize money for the top categories and jerseys to winners of each category. The races participating this year are:

June 1 - The Waterford Races

June 29 - Port City Criterium

July 13 - Detroit Cycling Championships

August 3 - Cherry Roubaix Road Race

August 25 - Debaets Devos Criterium

All races feature experienced race directors with experience hosting quality events.

The scoring in 2019 will be a points series format with the highest total points across the 5 races.

A UCI based points table will be used, carryover from 2018.

The categories are:

Men - Cat 1/2/3, Cat 3/4, Cat 4/5, Master 35+, 45+ and 55+

Women - Cat 1/2/3, Cat 4/5, Master 45+

Juniors - Men and Women 9-13 and 14-18

Points are not transferable across categories in the event of an upgrade

Prizes - Top 3 in the Cat 1/2/3 category , $250/$150/$100, then jerseys to all category winners

Thanks to the race promoters for their participation and our sponsors, Velofix Detroit and VIE13. Make sure to pre-register for all events in 2019 and help support Michigan racing!

MBRA Race Promoter Support

The MBRA is pleased to announce the launch of the race promoter support program.  All USAC registered, competitive events held outdoors are eligible for the program.  The program was created to provide support to those promoters using the USAC program for race promotion and execution.  We believe the features and benefits of a USAC event make for a safe and high quality event for racers.  The intent is to encourage the use of the USAC system and to help offset the incremental costs involved with it.

We are here to promote Michigan Racing and make it the best possible experience for racers. We feel this is one way to encourage clubs and teams to host events in the state.

Officials Clinic

We can’t put on the races we do without officials to run and score them. If you’re interested in becoming a race official, we’ll have a “C” level clinic this coming March 31st on the campus of Michigan State University, IM Sports Circle, room 106 (308 W Circle Dr, East Lansing, MI 48824) . The clinic starts at 11 am and runs about 5 hours.

The clinic is free for Michigan residents ($35 for non-residents) and includes lunch. MBRA will also cover your first year of your official’s license. To RSVP, or for more information, get in touch with our Director of Officials, John Sammut, by March 26th.
